What is itabout Serena that inspires such vitriol? Is it that she dominates in a sport that was once considered to be for the upper crust at country clubs? One would think that Althea Gibson and Arthur Ashe had put that idea to rest decades ago. Is it that she is considered too aggressive on the court? John McEnroe and Boris Becker seem to take the prize for that. Is it because she wins too much? To hate someone merely because he or she is great only speaks to one's own insecurity. To attempt to and fault with someone because you cannot figure out how or why they win so often only shows that you have already lost. Or is it that she is unapologetically black? A HCarefreeBlackGirl who speaks her mind, supports her people, and whose only real opponent is herself.

The image depicts a nearly naked man amid a vast area of rainforest, spear pointed at the helicopter hovering above him – a man defending his territory and people from outside influence. This very scene made front-page news some years ago in the UK. It instantly highlighted the loss of ancestral homelands some tribal communities round the world face.
Bad news has a way of dominating the headlines, so we're of the opinion that all indigenous communities and their culture are in decline – and that's not true. But the allure of propagating the "disappearing tribe" narrative is strong. It’s frustrating to see journalists who go on assignment with a set story in mind and then seek out quotes, experiences or interviews to fit their predetermined angle.

Plastic for Bus Tickets
In Surabaya, Indonesia, you can often see people walking to their local bus stop, carrying bags of plastic trash. That's because at local bus stations, that trash can be exchanged for bus tickets.
“We can reduce trash so it doesn't pile up at home because we just can bring it here and make good use of it. It's a win-win situation”.
Here's how the system works: Ten plastic cups or five plastic bottles are good for a two-hour bus ticket. It doesn't seem like a lot, but the plastic piles up quickly, and every bit helps because Indonesia, as a whole, has a big plastic problem. Indonesia is one of the biggest contributors in the world for plastic waste and through this initiative, we hope to raise public awareness on the environment, especially issues that relate to plastic trash. All this waste is then separated and auctioned off to recycling companies. The Plastic for Tickets plan is part of an ambitious nationwide initiative called Zero Waste Indonesia 2020.

Clarice Lispector (1920-1977) was born in Ukraine to a Jewish Family. Clarice and her parents emigrated to Brazil in the early 1920s, escaping persecution in the Soviet Union. In time, she would become one of the most celebrated Modernist authors in Brazil, developing in her first published work Near to the Wild Heart (1943) many of the techniques employed by James Joyce, William Faulkner or Virginia Woolf, the latter being the name most frequently associated with Clarice’s writing. Her narratives follow closely the inner lives of her protagonists, chronicling their feelings and emotions in stream of consciousness with a vigor and passion that put a spell on her readers.

Deciding on a Career.
If you wanna know how to decide if a career opportunity is a good one, there are several things you have to take into consideration.
Number 1: Does it make your heart sing? The number one feedback system that you were given at birth is joy. If you're not experiencing joy as you think about doing something and as you pursue doing it, then it's off course for you.
You also wanna put your rational mind to work. You want it to do some due diligence. Ask other people who've gone down that road before. What was it like? What did they have to do? What were some of the costs of that path? What were some of the payoffs and the benefits, and really get a sense of what it would be like to do that. Sometimes, you can go and do an internship or you can work for a friend in their restaurant just to see if you like it, 'cause often the fantasy doesn't match the reality.
And the other thing is to simply trust yourself. You know deep inside what's true for you. And if you'll take a few minutes and go inside, we call it meditation, and just ask and sit with the question, and see what kind of feelings come up. Does this feel right? So do all the rational research, but then ultimately bring it back into your heart and decide, "Does this feel good for me?" And if it makes sense up here and it feels good, then step into it. Just lean into it and see what happens. Pursue it.
No decision is forever. You can always change if it's not what you want.

De acordo com o cartum,
The American embassy escaped the blast in Beirut’s port unscathed. Many Western countries either have missions in the city centre or diplomats who live in the area. The wife of the Dutch ambassador was killed, as was a German diplomat. But America’s embassy sits in the mountain village of Awkar, five miles from the port. Security measures are onerous, a hangover from the bombing of the American embassy in Beirut in 1983, which killed 63 people. It took a week before the ambassador, Dorothy Shea, a career diplomat, toured the port. Even on social media it has been far quieter than other foreign powers.
